‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ 2023: Release Date, Plot, and Cast

Introduction –

Marvel is thriving. It has delivered some of the highest-grossing blockbuster films in the past such as Avengers: Infinity War, & Avengers: Endgame, and yet has a lot under its sleeve to unravel. Now, Marvel is all set to release the third installment of the funk-loving movie franchise ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’, starring Chris Pratt as the groovy Star-Lord in the lead role in 2023.

The first and the second movies were big hits, released in 2014 and in 2017 respectively. The pronounced release date of the movie is 5th May 2023 in the US. It is produced by Kevin Feige, President of the Marvel Studios, and written & directed by James Gunn. The trailer of the movie was shown at Comic-Con, which was held from the 6th to the 9th of October. The teaser however was released on 26th October 2022 on YouTube.

Also, Andrew Bachelor, Daniela Melchior, Callie Brand, and Nico Santos are expected to appear in undisclosed roles.

Plot/Storyline –

The whole cast and production have been pretty secretive about the plot and storyline of the movie. But it has come to be known that the Star-Lord, still reeling from the loss of Gamora (in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War), has to reassemble with his team to defend the universe from the catastrophe and their own too. If this mission ends unsuccessfully, it might determine the end of the Guardians.

Fan-made trailers have been leaked over popular video streaming platforms like YouTube, which comes pretty close to the official trailer, which is yet to be released.

Future Movies –

The list of recent hits it released includes:

  1. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021),
  2. Spiderman: No Way Home (2021),
  3. Marvel’s Eternals (2021),
  4. Thor: Love & Thunder (2022),
  5. Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness (2022)
  6. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)

Now, these are the new films Marvel has planned to release and are on their way to blow our minds:

  1. The Marvels (2023),
  2. Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumaina (2023),
  3. Deadpool 3 (2024),
  4. Captain America: New World Order (2024),
  5. Fantastic Four (2025),
  6. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2025),
  7. Avengers: Secret Wars (2026)

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this movie’s timeline fits between Ant-Man & the Wasp 3 and The Marvels. The first hint about this movie was dropped as early as 2017, when director James Gunn had been fired (shortly in 2018) by Marvel and Disney owing to resurfacing of old tweets regarding sensitive topics such as rape, pedophilia, etc. He had then said that he would return to Marvel Studios to ‘conclude the story of this iteration of Guardians of the Galaxy and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond.’ And he did, in March 2019.

The internet seems pretty excited for the film to hit the theatres, and so are we.
