Harrison Ford joins the MCU Phase 5 film Captain America 4 as ‘Thunderbolt’
Yes, you heard it right, folks! Captain America 4, aka Captain America: New World Order is all set to release tentatively on the 3rd of May, 2024. This will be in continuation of the events that took place in the movie ‘Falcon & the Winter Soldier’, in which Wilson accepts to shoulder the Captain’s responsibility and shield. It aired 6 episodes, with a massive budget of $150 million.
And the latest news tells us that we are in for a surprise. ‘Indiana Jones’ Harrison Ford is replacing the late William Hurt (1950-2022) to play the role of General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, in the Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon) starrer. Speaking of Indiana Jones, the fifth installment of the franchise is reported to be out on 30th June next year. Capitan America: New World Order will be his debut with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the 80-year-old actor.
He is also said to appear in the team-up movie Thunderbolts (tentative release date is 26th of July, 2024) which was hinted at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
The other actors who will be joining him in the MCU’s Phase 5 film are David Harbour (the Red Guardian), Sebastian Stan (the Winter Soldier), Wyatt Russel (the new Captain America), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), Florence Pugh (as Yelena Belova), etc.
Hurt was first seen playing the role of a U.S. Army General in ‘The Incredible Hulk’, MCU’s second feature film, opposite Edward Norton as Hulk (Bruce Banner). He was then seen in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ (2016), playing a pivotal role as the Secretary of State. Further, he made appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and also in Avengers: Endgame.
He received many awards in his lifetime such as the Academy Award for Best Actor, the BAFTA award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, the Golden Horse Award for Best Foreign Actor, and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for his work in Damages, Too Big to Fall, Children of a Lesser God. He died a few months ago, on March 13th at the age of 71. He was a memorable actor indeed.
