How to be a Civil Engineer?

1. Do diploma after 10th.

If you want to do civil engineering after 10th then you can do diploma in civil engineering from any polytechnic college. However, for this it is mandatory for you to give the Entrance Exam. It takes you a total of 3 years to do this diploma course. After doing that you become Junior Civil Engineering.

2. Pass with 12th Science or Maths subject.

If you want to do degree in civil engineering from a good college, then it is necessary for you to have 12th pass. You must have Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths subjects in 12th with 60% marks, then only you will be eligible to give any entrance exam.

3. Clear the entrance exam.

When you pass 12th class with good marks, then to get admission in B.Tech in good college, All India Level Entrance Exam like- JEE MAIN, IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), AIEEE etc. If you clear any of these exams, then on the basis of the marks and rank obtained by you in the examination, you get admission in a good college. But this exam is a bit difficult for which you have to work hard.

But there are many such colleges which conduct entrance exam at the state level, you can apply for them as well. Apart from this, many colleges also take admission without entrance exam, but for this you have to go through the counseling round.

Although you can do a degree from any private college but the fees in it are very high. If you take admission in a private college without giving entrance exam, then you must do complete research about it once.

4. Completed Bachelor’s degree.

To become a civil engineer after getting admission in the college, you have to do B.Tech. In this bachelor’s degree, you are made to study engineering for a full 4 years. In which you learn basic things such as, making a house map, how much raw material to apply, at which place what to make, etc. One who completes Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is called Senior Civil Engineering.

5. Do internship after degree.

After completing a degree in civil engineering, you will have to do an internship, so that you can see and learn your book knowledge practically. With this, you learn the qualities of becoming a professional civil engineer and if you apply for the post of civil engineer in any company, then you will be given more importance due to having experience.

6. Apply for license and certificate.

If you want to become a certified civil engineer, then for this you need a civil engineer’s license, but for this you must have years of experience. If you are experienced then you have to apply for license and after getting license you will become professional civil engineer.
