Ranjish Hi Sahi Review In English– Tahir Raj Bhasin has a great new year as the actor has just seen a huge silver screen release and this month has two major OTT releases. After 83, Tahir plays the role of a 90s film director in the web show Ranjeesh Hi Sahi on Voot Select,
Which is inspired by the life of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. He plays a romantic hero caught in a love triangle in Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen on Netflix.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor opened up about bringing back the ’70s in his new OTT releases and his other projects, including the loop wrap with Taapsee Pannu.
Ranjish Hi Sahi Story
The series revolves around an extramarital affair between a struggling filmmaker Shankar Vats (Tahir Raj Bhasin) and Aamna Parvez (Amala Paul), one of the top actresses of the 1970s. Produced by Mahesh Bhatt, this fictional drama is largely inspired by real life events and incidents – his relationship with the diva of the past, Parveen Babi
Ranjish Hi Sahi Review
Those who have followed the Hindi film industry since the 1970s will have a good idea of what the story is about and the allusions in its narrative.
Ranjeesh Hi Sahi is the third screen story of Mahesh Bhatt’s relationship with Parveen Babi. The first was his first big hit as a director, Arth (1982) and the second was the 2006 film Woh Lamhe (2006), which he wrote and produced. Produced by Mahesh Bhatt, this web show is written and directed by Pushpdeep Bhardwaj (who debuted with Jalebi produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt).
The first episode begins in 1976, with Shankar moving out of Ajnadham Dharamsala. Later, his actor friend Vinod Kumar (a reference to Vinod Khanna dressed in a sanyasis kurta and male) sees him passing and causes him to return to the Ajnadham ashram.
In their conversation, Osho, the spiritual guru called ‘Bhagwan’ by Vinod, refers to Rajneesh, whom Shankar considers a sham. While this is the first of many such references to real people, events and incidents that inspired the show, it also gives a good idea of Shankar’s strong personality.
Ranjish Hi Sahi Review
With his first three directorial flops, he is struggling to make his fourth one to support his family, which includes mother Rukhsar (Zarina Wahab), wife Anju (Amrita Puri), daughter Arti and brother Ganesh (Paras). Priyadarshan), when passing through a poster of Aamna.
Parvez’s Ajay Anwar Albert (Amar Akbar Anthony, anyone?), aspires to make a film with everyone’s favorite diva. It’s another matter that their first meeting didn’t go as planned and he doesn’t like their story, but he is impressed by her narration. And thus begins their friendship, setting the story in motion.
Unlike Mahesh Bhatt, who had limited screen time to tell his story in two films, Pushpdeep Bhardwaj has eight episodes that also delve into the veteran filmmaker’s childhood and struggles when he came into a relationship with the late Parveen Babi. Unfortunately, it seems
That he took enough time to do the story and the many characters back and forth. And it isn’t until the latter part of the fifth episode that the momentum begins to pick up. The last three episodes are more for the story unfolding sequentially. However, Pushpdeep won’t let it get to you, thanks to the brilliant lines he has given to all his characters including the supporting cast.
Tahir Raj Bhasin has put his heart into the intricate part of Shankar Vats. He doesn’t let a badly designed wig get in the way of his character delivering a strong performance filled with myriad emotions. However, he is disappointed with the script in some instances where he looks a bit lost.
Amrita Puri has given an honest performance as Anju and some of the highlight are the scenes. In which she slaps Shankar and breaks up with her daughter Aarti. The second is when he and Aamna meet for the first time.

Amala Paul probably has the hardest part, portraying not only the phase Aamna is going through, but also with sensitivity and dignity. And she doesn’t disappoint, reassuring her character so much that you feel for her.
Zarina Wahab plays the role of Rukhsar, mother of Vats’ brother, with great grace. Paras Priyadarshan, Naina Sareen (Aamna’s secretary Mary), Madan Deodhar (Amanda’s driver Abdul), Saurabh Sachdeva (horror filmmaker Jagmohan Seth) and Uday Chandra (Watch Man) play their roles effectively.
Production design by Nilesh Eknath Wagh takes you back to the bygone era, beautifully captured by cinematographer Sumit Samaddar. Adil-Prashant’s background score adds to the story while the soundtrack composed by Abhas, Shreyas and Prasad Shashte, with lyrics by Ravi and Shakeel Azmi can be liked.
Ranjeesh Hi Shahi is like a nostalgic journey for those who have followed the Hindi film industry since the 1970s. And even for those who haven’t seen the old-fashioned movies, it’s a good watch for its intriguing narrative, versatile soundtrack, and amazing performances.
