HISTORY The Mini Australian Shepherd (Mini Aussie) was bred to keep the agility, speed and intelligence of the Standard version.

BREED ORIGIN The Australian Shepherd is a very popular dog and ranks at 17 out of 193 with the American Kennel Club (AKC). They were first seen in the 19th Century in South Western America.

CHARACTERISTICS The Mini Australian Shepherd looks exactly like their standard size counterpart, just in a much smaller size. 

APPEARANCE The Mini Australian Shepherd is a dog that is slightly longer than it is tall. 

COAT One of the distinct features of the Australian Shepherd, Miniature or Standard, is their big, fluffy, double coat!

COLOR The most common colors are black, blue merle, liver red and red merle. They can also have tan and white markings.

TEMPERAMENT The Miniature Australian Shepherd was originally bred to be a smaller working dog.

LIFESPAN The Mini Australian Shepherd has a relatively long life expectancy and normally lives to between 12 and 13 years of age. 

EXERCISE Miniature Australian Shepherd’s are active dogs who require around 30 to 60 minutes of exercise a day.
