Former Parkland High standout Sam Iorio was on hand at the A-Town Throwdown last weekend supporting his alma mater.
He returned from Israel on July 26 where he helped Team USA win the gold medal
in men’s open basketball at the Maccabiah Games of 2022.
Although Iorio didn’t put up huge offensive numbers, he played his usual strong defensive game
and grabbed several rebounds over the course of the six-team tournament.
Iorio has one more year left at Niagara. Last season, the grad student played in 30 games
with 25 starts and averaged 8.4 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game.
He shot 40.7% percent from the field and scored a season-high 18 points at Ohio State on Nov. 12.
He had a season-high 13 rebounds versus Monmouth on Dec. 3 and scored his 1,000th career point against St. Thomas on Nov. 20.
