Team USA, Monica Abbott wins World Championship

Former Lady Vol Monica Abbott earned a win for Team USA in its 3-2 victory over Japan Wednesday.

Team USA won the championship at the World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.

Abbott relieved starter Ally Carda and pitched four innings.

She allowed two runs, seven hits and two walks, while striking out three.

Abbott recorded 102 pitches, totaling 65 strikes, against 24 batters.

She competed for Team USA during the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo,

winning a silver medal as the sport returned after a 12-year hiatus.
