‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ Streaming on Netflix: Everything Else We Should Know
Everyone wants to watch the film adaptation of our favorite books. We always love to watch the story on the big screen which was cherished by our hearts. Plenty of our favorite books got their film adaption. In that line, the novel, WhereThe Crawdads Sing which had sold over fifteen million copies, got its film adaption. Delia Owens wrote this murder mystery novel in 2018. G.P. Putnam’s sons published the novel. The novel was published on 14TH August 2018.
The film adaption of the novel was released on July 15, 2022. Olivia Newman directed the film. The Screenplay was done by Lucy Alibar. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter produced the film. Sony Pictures Releasing distributed the film. The Famous American singer Taylor Swift wrote and sang a song for this film. Like the novel, the film adaption was a box office hit grossing over $137 million. Though the film was released in theatres, now it’s going to enter into one of the best OTT platforms. Yes, from November 12, 2022, we can watch the film on the Netflix platform.

The plot of Where the Crawdads Sing
The story revolves around Kya who was abandoned by her family. The background of plot sets place in 1953, North Carolina. Kya’s mother and siblings left one by one because of the torture of their abusive husband and father. At the age of seven, he also abandoned her and she was left alone. To survive she collected mussels and sold them at the local store named Barkley Cove.
So the people in the town addressed her as a marsh girl. From the childhood friend of Tate Walker, Kya learns how to read, write and count. During the process, they were attracted to each other and fell in love. But the relationship doesn’t long last after Tate went for his higher studies. After that Kya had a relationship with Chase Andrews who is a local celebrity in the town. As a token of their love Chase presents a small shell to kya, which she turns the shell into a beautiful necklace and surprises Chase by giving it to him.
But Kya comes to know that Chase was cheating on her and had already gotten engaged to another girl. So she breaks up with him. After some days Tate returned to the town. Kya always got attracted to nature. So she draws pictures of natural views and gets paid by publishing them. Later, Kya and one of her siblings Jodie had an encounter with each other and shared their bonding. He told her that their mother was dead before she met all her children. Meanwhile, Tate still had feelings for Kya, but she was not certain about his feelings.

Later Chase tries to force himself on Kya, but she somehow escaped from him. During the incident, a fisherman overheard the conversation between Kya and Chase about Kya’s words about killing Chase if he will not leave her. After that Chase was killed by someone at the Fire tower. Kya becomes the prime suspect in his death. Because there was no evidence, fingerprints at the scene of the crime and the shell necklace which was given by Kya to him were also missed.
But Kya was acquitted because of the lack of evidence. After that Kya and Tate lived together. In the end, the story ends with revealing the biggest truth. Tate found the missing shell necklace of Chase in Kya’s belongings, by this we can guess that Kya is the one who murdered Chase, And Tate decides to hide the truth by throwing the necklace into the marsh water.
